The Source

In meditating on Psalm 37:4, it is clear that The Lord wants to get good things to us. But in the past, like many others I’ve misinterpreted this scripture selfishly. Not that I desired sinful things, they were not aligned with God’s immediate plan for me. If you’re honest out there, you’ve misunderstood this as well. It read more like this:

“If I just do good, God will give me the things I want. Now these wants could be contrary to God’s best for me, but that doesn’t matter.”

And when we received some of these things, we prayed for their disappearance.

So looking at Psalm 37:4 with the proper lenses…we now know it would be God’s downloaded desired He would give us – His absolute best…and under His Grace…all we have to do is believe to receive these desires…that’s how we please God. The missed concept of the scripture leads to prideful confessions and affirmations…in short, not of God.

Be happy with the Lord,
    and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 (GW)


The Button Scavenger Hunt

Its 6:42 PM, Sunday…I’m looking for a wooden button to fix my favorite jeans…after running from Target to Bed Bath and Beyond…the suggestion came that I should go to Joanne’s. Oh good it’s still open…and now my mind raced to why didn’t I know this. Could my female cred be tarnished now? No not at all, I’ve haven’t been these types of woman ever…you know the ones that frequent fabric stores and scours grocery stores for ingredients to bake homemade cookies…and yet I find myself in this place.

As, I reached the button aisle and began my hunt…I scanned quickly because how many of y’all know they close at 7? I ignored my notice of Ms. Annette at first. We were both trying to find the perfect button. I had only two choices…not so for Annette. I’m not sure which one of us broke the silence first. We were frustrated with these button choices. Nonetheless, it’s done, I’ve made my decision.

Annette was disappointed at her many choices…none grabbed her interest…she led with that in conversation. Before long I found the fascinating 80-year-old standing in front of me was so much more than a person looking for a button. She was on a service mission. She explained why the button was so important…she needs to change them out on her vest to add uniqueness or creativity to her costume. She performs every year for seniors. She’s skilled in tap, jazz and ballet dance styles. Many organizations that deal with farming to immigration has her attention as well. She performs about 4 times a year. She still sews and was now challenged with these inadequate button choices. As she spoke, I decreased to drink from her wisdom fountain. We took pleasure in that aisle for the first time with her sharing and me receiving.

So although, she is the busiest senior (or otherwise) I’ve met…it was her attention to detail that drew me in. Her presentation couldn’t be last year’s sloppy seconds…just for them, she wanted to give them something fresh and new…how she couldn’t go in earlier years’ costumes. She didn’t take anything for granted – not singing and dancing and not being advocate for others in the areas of farming and immigration.  In about 10 mins, I learned more about servitude and charity and how they equal God’s blessings. She embodied long life with strength and alertness.

Don’t Waste Time

So we’re all familiar with procrastination…but what is it about “wasting time” we can’t seem to grasp?. I don’t know…do you? Any who, not only will procrastination cause delay in what God called you to do, wasting time will also.


Just yesterday in my quiet time with the Holy Spirit, He eluded to my use of “free” time being wasteful. Although this revelation had been coming for some time, I rejected the notion. So much so I’ve complained about things I actually need to keep my sane.

For example, on Wednesdays I have a long busy day with work and other tasks. Naturally, I’ve complained to others on how I’m limited on that day…and all the while, I need these activities to burn stored energy so that I rest well. My Wednesdays are actually very productive and fulfilling…but we’ll get to that in a minute.

Back Story

Some time ago, I had decided (without checking with Him first) to cut down on my networking and other business building activities…and I lessened my fun subconsciously. My thought at the time was to focus more on my family. While that isn’t a bad thing, admirable in fact…that’s not how He just made me.

I’m so systematic and methodical in handling routine matters of all types – personal or professional. As you can imagine, I finish things quite quickly. So here I was left with all of this free time. And with this time, I put my call and purpose on the back-burner. And how many of you know that led me away into other areas not profitable…not like my lovely Wednesdays.

1 Corinthians 10:23 (AMPC) 23All things are legitimate [permissible—and we are free to do anything we please], but not all things are helpful (expedient, profitable, and wholesome). All things are legitimate, but not all things are constructive [to character] and edifying [to spiritual life].

Proverbs 14:12 (KJV) 12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

…only His call and purpose for my life sat dying.  But He wouldn’t even let me kill it. Holy Spirit kept stirring it up within me. Praise Jesus!

Getting back/Giving back

Being fully aware I had to get back to where I’m supposed to…so I can give back to Him which was given for His glory. So with His help, I’m putting away devices used to distract my mind.

Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) 7a For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:

Matthew 6:33 (KJV) 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.


This is not a plea for you guys to get busy, busy, busy…this is also not a plea for you guys make decisions without His input…and finally this is not a plea for you guys sit still waiting. Balance is the key. He is always speaking so He’ll guide you to a destination designed for the season. If you’re paying attention, you’ll discover His purpose for you.

Have you ever noticed…?

No one answered these questions concerning the spirit of Jezebel:

  • What does this all mean?
  • How could it be recognized?
    • in/on others
    • on myself

Mainly because the subject matter was so fascinating to theologists. Some appeared to use subjects like this for their soapbox sermons. While this subject led me to believe this was and is still an issue. And no one had answered my pending questions in a basic relatable way.

This is a simple attempt to respond to questions above.

What does it all mean?

As most believers have read about Jezebel in the Word (I Kings & II Kings), she was a woman that was strategically manipulative. She captivated King Ahab with wit and charm. They wed and the rest is history. Once queen she used her position to control the Jewish kingdom to serve an ungodly purpose. Jezebel’s pride brought her to top and that same pride brought her to death.

In that quick synopsis, you may have missed what it all meant.  This type of spirit desires to get into God’s inter-circle. Because the anointing rested with the children of Israel, satan sent this spirit to destroy them. They left the door open. King Ahab had already walked away from The Lord which made him susceptible for this invasion of an adversary.

In today’s message, we are able to see this spirit by just looking around…there are many who operate in this on different levels. Some them have learned these tools and adopted these ideas as their own personalities.

How can I recognize it?

Any where manipulation/control is in play…there it is! I can hear some of you now “Aren’t you being just a bit dramatic?” No, while that is simple enough. It is often missed. Because generally the person operating in this Jezebel spirit, has moved in over time. Now, that person is causing you anxiety because their presence demands something of you. To explore that further, check out the prophet’s behavior. He was terrified of her. Sure, she threatened his life often. But Elijah had killed the prophet’s of Baal and this was after a God showdown. So in basic language this spirit is a subtle tormentor. And because you’ve seen this person’s dirty work, you know this person doesn’t make idle threats.

The threats come mixed with love, acceptance, recognition, or appreciations. At first you’ll be pulled in (or tricked). Once your trust is gained, they’ll allow you to see their true handiwork. They’ll keep pouring out the love, acceptance, recognition, or appreciation as long “you perform as expected”.  After while, they’ll remove the fluff and you’ll be left with your fear of their actions (or more like punishment).

So in the scenarios below, these can be applied at home, with friends, at work, or acquaintances. But these are how we can recognize that spirit for sure.

Scene 1: Your (fill in the blank) is smothering you one minute because you’ve done all of their favorites…then just like an eye blinks, spill some milk and now you’re the worst thing that’s ever happened on earth and they have no use for you. This happens quite often. Signs: your favorites are almost never considered, arguments frequently have wording “if you make me happy, then I can be more (polite, nice, loving)”

Scene 2: Your (fill in the blank) doesn’t want you to spend time outside your normal circle. Signs: you hang out a little bit and come back to world war three, you’re punished in some way for days because you “excluded” your (fill in the blank). Reason: They’re threatened by any other relationships you may develop.

Scene 3: Your (fill in the blank) dangles treats for favors Reason: in this scenario, there is always a condition. There is nothing freely given.

In Closing

If you’re reading this as a Christian…this spirit can only influence if you allow it to. It cannot be on the inside of you because you inhabit the Holy Spirit. And with us, we’re constantly being nudged by The Spirit of God with love toward correction. So how can we be operating in this spirit? It is because of our old lives. There was a residue left behind. Some may have been highly skilled in this area and haven’t learned to trust Jesus. So they have a need to control.  So according to Romans 12, we are to renew our minds.

As it relates to encountering this spirit in/on others…just as the Holy Spirit nudges us in love, we can love people to life be standing up for our selves. I’ve noticed a high level passiveness amongst the Christians. Somehow, we started believing that addressing conflict will get us into trouble. Our Savior Jesus turned over tables when he was angry and addressed  his adversaries constantly. He did all of this winning some of them to Himself. That’s what we’re supposed to do. Address with love, because perfect love casts out fear. Remember this is a tormentor spirit…so we should never run away unless lead by His Spirit.

Christian or CHRISTian?

In Matt 26, the disciples would display that they didn’t know the heart of Christ.

Those examples are: Woman w/the alabaster box (expensive perfume) & when Jesus asked them to pray before His crucifixion.

We know at that time, the Spirit of God had not come yet…and some of us (Christian) act like that now – insensitive to others & in-compassionate of others’ needs. Are we all about ourselves? Are we trying to live this life without His Spirit’s help? Some are. And if that’s you…it’s not too late for correction.

Don’t pretend to be Christian if you refuse to invoke the heart of God. God’s heart is after all of us – the entire human race. First, He purposed for us salvation and then from there – growth in our souls.

Now, Jesus is the perfect savior because he came and put on this earth suit. So He understands what we face daily. He left us His Spirit so we could pick His characteristics. So did we get in Him and then jump out from time to time due to inconvenience? The inconvenience of having to give of ourselves?

Are we the kind of people, that require observation – can we be trusted to have compassion for “friends” and strangers in a time of need? Do our “friends” wonder why – we say we’re friends and then are nowhere to be found doing tough times; why can’t we ever take time (just a moment) to check on them; why is it we have a little to nothing to give but we almost always have our hands out to receive; why are our gifts are actually loans; and why are we unreliable and unaccountable?

Understand this, CHRISTians are givers period. So Christian, what’s up? This goes back that statement “trying to live this life without His Spirit”. We are to become a people who do nothing without the Spirit’s approval. We are to become a people who are quick to forgive and to apologize. We shouldn’t hope that others forget and forgive the crap we’ve done.  Without demanding a change of conduct…when we forgive other Christians and they change not…we assisting them in evil. I know, I know…it appears to be a lot of responsibility.

Some may question this use of “we”. We are the body of Christ, right?! So we should be on one accord. And we should admonish others to join in with tutoring when it appears our brother or sister hasn’t arrived yet.

We mustn’t confuse religious badgering with genuine concern for our brothers and sisters. We mustn’t use Grace as an excuse to do whatever we want. We use Grace to dismiss and diminish bad habits.  Bottom-line understanding the purpose of Grace…is knowing His heart. He loves us and only wants the very best for us…and that’s what we should want for all as well.

Going back to the garden, the disciples were sleeping..and our Savior still went to cross knowing that they had abandoned Him…knowing just earlier they wanted to persecute a woman for pouring expensive oil…knowing our values are sometimes misplaced did not stop Him for loving us into an euphoria we neither comprehend or measure up to. So we need to lean into His Spirit to do as He did for others as He has done for us.

As a little girl, mostly memories filled with Saturday cleaning days and Luther Vandross…and man was she hard on my brother and I. Growing up, my brother and I thought she was so mean…but we’ve come realize is that she provided structure with her strict ways. And honestly, it was our secret. We never outed her to anyone or complained about how we couldn’t do certain things. I think as children although we didn’t understand fully, we knew deep down she knew best.

On the other side of strict, she was Auntie Lessee. I saw her give one of my cousins a picture she had drawn to present as her own in school.  That always baffled me until now. So there were many occasions, I witnessed my parents rescue family members from destruction.

In her heart, she knew my brother and I would always be able handle adverse situations…because she prepared us well. For others, she showed up as a person they could lean on…and lean on hard they did.  I’m sure those folks thought she would always be okay. She was so strong. We didn’t realize how  much until now.

When I was around 13, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. No one knew what that meant back then. Suddenly the Saturday cleaning days dwindled to a stop.  We didn’t hear Luther in the background. And she needed help.

As her oldest, I tried home care for few years and then my grandmother until it became too much for us. I watched a once disciplined woman become a child right before my eyes. I couldn’t understand. It was amazing looking back on it, she never complained or intentionally burdened anyone for help. She remained strong. It was different kind of strength.

In those years, I watched her lose her health, husband, friends, and family. It was as if she had died before it actually happened. Yet, she still never complained. She took it all in stride. Truly amazing.

My brother and I didn’t know how proud she was of us as children…but as adults we were constantly assured every time we so much as spoke to someone responsible for her care. She talked about us “all the time”…we heard.

That fills my heart and sustains me every time I hear it. I love you, momma…I miss you so much. I am so proud you were mom. Thank you for helping get through so rough patches way beforehand. I could never truly express the impact you’ve had on my life…even in your death…I see things I’ve never paid any attention to before.

There are only 3 Categories you’ll find yourself in on this earth….and no it’s not racially or status based. That’s what this world would have you believe. Don’t believe the hype (as we said in the 90s)! And it is a bunch distraction. Though it took some time for this knowledge to sink in, as a believer, this is all I ever need – all we ever need to know. And from this knowledge, we’re able to do all things decent and in order as the bible states. Let’s get into these three:

  • Blinded to Sin – totally controlled or dominated by it.
  • Struggling with Sin – knowing it’s wrong, going back & forth with.
  • Freedom from Sin – not managed by sin.

People who are blinded by sin have the philosophy that is totally based in self effort and are anti-God. These people may even know that there is a God. But most definitely, these people have not subscribed to Jesus being the savior for the entire world. In St. John 3, Jesus has this conversation with Nicodemus, a religious leader/teacher. He explains that everyone needs to be born of the Spirit in order to be saved. This statement confused Nicodemus as it does many today. Jesus went on to explain how He was to be crucified for God’s salvation plan to be activated. In that same book, chapter 14, Jesus says clearly “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” in verse 6. Unfortunately, people still reject that truth. Therefore, they are blinded to/by sin still.

People who struggle with sin can already be saved with the Holy Spirit tugging on their coat collar to stop it before the consequences of their sins are made manifest – can be seen. Even if these are not saved, there are always signs and wonders pointing to salvation. People who struggle with sin more than know there is a God. They’ve had some experiences where it was very obvious He is real. But what happened? People like this did not explore that relationship with Him further. So that experience or those experiences overshadows their life. Now saying you’re saved, and you still struggle with sin. It is the same thing! It is all about the relationship with Him. It is vital! Spend time in His Word. Make it a habit to read a Proverb every day. Today is the 13th…read Proverbs 13. Whatever situation, you are faced with: research, find, and meditate on that Word.  So faith comes from hearing the message, and the message that is heard is what Christ spoke. – Romans 10:17 GW. Eventually, you’ll find yourself walking out that deliverance.

People who are free from sin are confident in their relationship with God. These people know who they are. They are the righteous of God. They don’t apologize for that. They are not in bound by people’s opinions or popular beliefs or religious cliches. When they make mistakes, and they will, they do not allow condemnation to keep them stuck. (By the way, this is one of the ways, our adversary keeps us sinning). A person not managed by sin is not perfect. They continuously accept their induction into His perfection. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. – John 8:36 NIV. 

How to Love like Him

There are three very important aspects to loving people like Jesus loves us:

  • Serve although you have been made a King in Christ Jesus
  • Treat your enemies as you would your friends
  • Forgive constantly

In Christ, we have been redeemed and we reign in life through and by Him. But for some religious saved folk with this knowledge has caused them to be haughty and prone to exalting themselves. Though, we should walk confidently in the royalty we’re called to. We are not to diminish someone else’s existence with our much knowing selves…while never denying our identity, we should present it in a way that makes people want to a member. There is a way to do everything. And the way we should do anything is through Him.

Jesus, in the Gospel of John chapter 13, washed everyone’s feet – that included Judas. Truth is told! Everyone of His disciples betrayed Him on some level after that point out of fear. Jesus did not allow that to deter Him by dying on the cross. We were all God’s enemy before salvation. The Bible says we were all born into sin and shaped in iniquity in Psalms 51:5. So let’s not get it twisted…we need to thank God for Jesus changing that for us who are saved. So it’s very important as a CHRISTian that you should never regard anyone as an enemy…they may regard you as one all day long…that is not your business.

On this earth, my Christ was constantly forgiving. I believe this was prelude to what was to come. He was forgiving Pharisees, ignorant comments and/or questions, people caught in sin on the spot, people breaking the Sabbath, and people outside of the Jewish community. And, then He died to forgive our sins. Just read the gospels. In Matthew 18:21, Peter called himself asking Jesus how many times should he forgive a loved one who does him wrong…seven times he says. Jesus knew where he was going with this and answered him with an outlandish answer. Outlandish because if you are prepared to keep count to reach 77 times of person’s wrong doing…you’re crazy, petty and probably a tad bit OCD…and from that perspective, He gave that answer to say just keep on forgiving because you’re not going to be able to keep count of the forgiveness bestowed upon on you, so why keep count of the forgiveness you extend.


Please realize that this can only be done from your position in CHRIST. You’d be surprised how many Christians and non-Christians thinks this can work by carnal performance. This should all be done from within spiritually. And not new age spiritualism either, I mean you need the Holy Ghost leading and guiding you through these processes. You are not good in of yourself. You are good because He is good. Remember that.

The Guilty Conscious

This consciousness will have the vast majority working overtime. We will be overly friendly, tolerating nonsense, overlooking mistakes and trying to make up for our wrongs. Moreover, the only wrong is that these tasks are perpetrated out an incorrect way of thinking.

We should strive to be a true friend because the bible says that a friend loves at all times…in Proverbs 17:17. As Holy Spirit lead beings, we should be able to overlook mistakes and tolerate some nonsense as we have unction. And bottom line, we’re not always right or do things right – so by all means we should take necessary step for correction.


…that way it brings no guilt or condemnation. At the end of the day, we need peace. In Him, you’ll be okay even if you’re still rejected. Out of Him, you bring more burdens to yourself. You tire quickly. You may feel used and abused after a while because your efforts are not reciprocated…and the list goes on and on.


So if you’ve made a mistake:

  • Pray about how or should you fix it right then

Sometimes, He’ll lead you to just walk away without a word or an action.

  • He gives you a solution. Do just that! Do not add to it nor take away from it.

Sometimes, we want to help God. He knows everything. He does not need your help. Our philosophy can get us in trouble (Colossians 2:8)…heck because Eve added to what God said in Genesis we’re in this mess…see Genesis 2:16 (what God said) and Genesis 3:3 (what Eve added in).

  • Accept the outcome.

It may not seem favorable at the time. That does not matter. By this time, you should be resting in what you know that you know God told you to do.


So the next time you’re faced with your mistake and want to “right” a wrong…talk to God and get some peace before going forward…Gone boy, gone girl…get that monkey off your back.

Although there are over 200 names found in the bible, we’ll only visit:

Prince of Peace – when we lean inside and connect with the Holy Spirit during adverse times, we experience peace that surpasses all understanding. As people wonder how you can remain peaceful in crazy times, let them in on your secret. You may just win a soul. The scripture reference is found in Isaiah 9:6:

A child will be born for us.
A son will be given to us.
    The government will rest on his shoulders.
    He will be named:
        Wonderful Counselor,
        Mighty God,
        Everlasting Father,
        Prince of Peace.

Deliverer – It happened already. 2000 years ago, Jesus rescued us from our sins. Now its up to us to walk it out. And when we stumble we realize we’re stilled delivered. We had more practice and sometimes more influence from the world practices. As we renew our minds, they’ll see our deliverer. The scripture reference is found in Romans 11:26:

26 In this way Israel as a whole will be saved, as Scripture says,

“The Savior will come from Zion.
    He will remove godlessness from Jacob.

Lamb of God – He became our sacrifice. We didn’t deserve Him then and we don’t deserve Him now. We didn’t ask yet and still He heard our cry. He had no blemish at all and took away all of our plagues. This is found in St. John 1:29:

29 John saw Jesus coming toward him the next day and said, “Look! This is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

Savior – This is what it all boils down to. He is our Lord and Savior. Our victory packaged in God and man. Our demonstration in love and grace, He is all of that. No more chaos because He saved us. This truth is referenced in St. Matthew 1:21 and St. Luke 2:11:

21 She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus [He Saves], because he will save his people from their sins.”

11 Today your Savior, Christ the Lord, was born in David’s city.

His name is everything good in your life. His name is anything submitted to Him. He has taken it all on and conquered them. He is our righteousness. He is our best-est friend. His name is matchless because what other name or thing can compare.

His Love: my story

In July of 1996, this life on earth almost ended. You know the song that says “I could of have been dead and gone, but Lord let me live on” by the Mighty Clouds…I know that all too well. The event took place on July 15. Funny thing is, on the 14th, I had no symptoms of what I was about to experience.
Just so, you will understand what happened later, here is the background story: I was dating a guy and we were sexually active. I had become pregnant and although it had not been confirmed. I had enough practice to recognize the signs. My oldest at the time was four years old. In addition, there is more back-background beyond this piece. I had become a Christian in April of 96.

Pause break: this is a testimony of His love. This is not a commercial advertisement in favor of sin or sinning.

On Monday, July 15, that normal routine was interrupted by pain and nausea. The feelings were tolerable. “No biggie” thoughts fueled the brain and I kept it moving. Although the indicators grew from bearable to most awful, I remained steadfast at work. Get this; the job was over 40 miles from where I lived. Being that far away from home, God still did not leave me alone. This woman at work ministered constantly as if she knew something would happen one day. That doesn’t mean she beat me over the head with the bible either. She served. When I was hungry, she fed me…she encouraged me…she gave me rides at times alleviating my long bus ride home. In tears because I can’t remember her name…as clear as day, I see her.
On the day in question, she checked on me several times. I tried to play it cool not worry her. By 3PM, the pain had risen to a scary level. Somehow, I ended up in the bathroom. It was there where I started to lose consciousness. While doing so, two women came in the bathroom and discovered me. I had made it from a stall into plain site and lay in the floor. They presented me with two options, would I like them to call a cab or an ambulance? I answered a cab. Laughing about that now, what was I thinking? I know how crazy it is because I had a chance to see it in that four-year-old whose 23 now. It is okay to be weak because that is when God makes us strong.

Pause break 2: All together “Pride” – a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired. I was always considered the strong one by anyone who met me. I would be weak to surrender to that pain.

Those women asked but didn’t listen. They called the ambulance. Hallelujah! At the hospital, they called the best doctor. She ran tests and came back saying you have an ectopic pregnancy meaning the egg was in fallopian tubes. Because of this, my tubes had burst and I had bled internally. The blood was drowning me from inside. She bluntly said probably because I had been so prideful with everyone else “look if I don’t operate right now, you’ll die”. How could I refuse life, right? Those dummy impulses were up at that moment.
Nineteen years later, I can tell this story. God’s love is unconditional and encouraging. We’re founded in His love as CHRISTians. I believe as I was presented salvation at the right time just a few months before this incident. I know it was because He loves me. I was in right place at the right time. I had the right physician. It was just God and I in that hospital because it was so far away…with no crazy family or friends interrupting our time together. He did not give this problem. He permitted it and I learned the most important thing. He loves him some Daria Alicia Carter.

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

The bible is the most beautiful love story ever written. This blog post is just a reminder that we were damsels in distress pre-salvation. The word salvation (a derivative of a Greek word sozo) packs a punch with the meaning to save, deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): – heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.

Due to the story I shared and many others, I have no reason for doubting His love for me. So I urge you all to wake up to His love…He made us righteous. Be convinced of His love…He paid for it with His life…Be aware of His love…and finally bask in His love.

This Path Leads To…

Fear is debilitating. It paralyzes. Before it does, it numbs with:

  • condemnation
  • tradition
  • Experience (even if comes from someone else)
  • conversation

But God’s idea…

  • Bigger than yourself
  • cost money
  • requires other people involvement
  • requires pushing aside doubt
  • requires supernatural intervention

The Lord will start nudging you where you are. Because of this, you’re required to elevate your mind…renew your mind as Romans 12 suggests.

Which brings it back to fear. It is bred out of complacency.

com·pla·cen·cy: a feeling of smug or uncritical satisfaction with oneself or one’s achievements.

 Romans 11:20 (GWT) That’s right! They were broken off because they didn’t believe, but you remain on the tree because you do believe. Don’t feel arrogant, but be afraid.

Paul is speaking to gentiles in this passage explaining the importance of trusting God. This is an explanation of how we need His Grace. He urges us not to be arrogant by trusting in our abilities alone without God!

Fear is only possible when we consider/ponder/meditate/worry the opposite of God’s word. It enters the same way every time:

  • tradition
  • thought
  • influence

All of these spell out philosophy. Traditions were grown & developed as doctrine. Thoughts sown by our adversary pop-up at inopportune times then adopted as a way of life. Influence – this one is trickier than the rest because sometimes its through someone’s experience or words. Be careful of unwise, ungodly counsel.

Colossians 2:8 (GWT) Be careful not to let anyone rob you of this faith through a shallow and misleading philosophy. Such a person follows human traditions and the world’s way of doing things rather than following Christ.

Following those three listed without checking them against the Word of God is the beginning of fear. It’ll seem logical, right and safe.

Romans 1:22 (GWT) While claiming to be wise, they became fools.

Sitting Still

Right now, my whole life is sitting still…see when you have no patience as I do, eventually you be lead to sit still.

A good example of this is when my son keeps losing the house keys. He has lost them about 3 or 4 times. In a recent event, he’s forgotten my daughter’s at his grandfather’s. Then, he lost the spare. Needless to say, I was fed up. He’d done all of this in less than 6 months.

Not to confuse patience with tolerance. I had neither at that point. Tolerance is the level at which you handle irritants. Patience (and we’re talking about “Believer” patience) is being able to conduct yourself consistently the same despite the circumstances. Patience produces the levels of tolerance you operate in. We do this by walking in love.

Walking in Love

It doesn’t mean you are blind or oblivious to what’s going on or trying to keep it a “fake” nice. That is just a bubbling-on-its-way-over to boiling problem when not dealt with.

“Walking in love” means you address adversity with the same temperament as you would something pleasurable. Maybe firm hands should be applied to handle properly.

So before I spoke with my son, I adjusted my posture after I asked the Lord for help and He answered…so it came out firm and loving. It appeared to be well received. My son was not hurt nor wounded by my words….

How can I be firm & loving?

  • state the issue
  • offer solutions
  • listen to suggestions
  • re-affirm intelligence (in others)

In the Height of Tragedy

Recently we’ve witnessed in the U.S. many human injustices. And it’s attempting to attribute to more division…

While its clear racism is still alive and kicking, it’s doesn’t help matters when the oppressed lend itself to animalistic behavior.

It is time to walk in LOVE…

So a quick shout out to Dr. Jamal Bryant of Empowerment Temple in Baltimore, MD for being the man of God you are. It is ministries growing out of this church like Beyond the Walls that has committed to the community by providing love, guidance and education.

…And now its all about love…and his perfect love displayed through us provides the right education and instruction.

There is a constant call sounding off for every Believer of Christ to pray….and every Believer of Christ in these infected areas to show love by getting involved in your communities. It is long over due for this world to see Him in us who called us to the marvelous light. Do you hear this call, Believers?

It is time for many Believers to retire the passive robes. We are to do what’s right because it’s right period. Because this country has never dealt properly with the residue slavery has left on a people, history keeps repeating itself. Old wounds are dug into as child would pick a scab on his knees. In hindsight, as Believers we should show forth how we can walk in love with every man: black, white and all others…genuinely.

Are You Comfortable?

So my son posed this question: “If heaven was a mile away, would you pack up & leave?” Quite naturally I answered as most of you would “YES!”.

While the second question is “would you really?” Some of us are so comfortable right where we are in our own little controlled environments. Not that these situations are anything special…we as a society just enjoy limitation.

Just like our three layers of skin, externally we have projected a shell that may or may make up or true selves. The epidermis, the outer most layer, provides a waterproof barrier and creates our tone. Much like this definition, we adorn ourselves so that even when looked at from a distance, someone can guess our stories.  It is just the plastic seal like on medicine bottles, you’ll have to read the label to discover whether it is poison, natural, or has side effects. Next is dermis, beneath the epidermis, contains tough connective tissue, hair follicles, and sweat glands. For most for us, this makes up our feeler, thinker and chooser…in other words our personality – our likes and dislikes. These ideals are formed based on what happens or doesn’t happen on the epidermis plane. Constantly, the epidermis and dermis are working together unless…the deeper subcutaneous tissue (hypodermis) is allowed to intervene and straighten things out. The hypodermis is made up of fat and connective tissue. Similar to that of our spirit man, our true selves, it holds the keys to shalom.

This is where our facts become truths or lies. Do we operate in 1st tier and 2nd tier mode? What about the 3rd tier? Is it non-existent? Or do we have our confidence there?

Unlike any other posts, the answers are evaluated by you. We answer like robots to sound good sometime and methodically because people are listening and watching…while it is important to know that heaven is less than mile away already for the believer. It lives on the inside of you. So the question becomes will you dive in and be baptized daily?

Who’s Using You?

From many different angles, there was an attempt to tackle this subject. Personal experience caused my flesh to look forward to demonizing anyone allowing themselves to be used by an enemy.

…Just use emotionalism to make a point…

Finally, it was clear to me WE ALL allow ourselves to have our strings pulled by enemies from time to time. Whether that enemy is physical, mental, or spiritual…again, WE HAVE ALL been manipulated against ourselves more than a few times.

So this post is mainly about recognizing whose rule or play book you are following at any given moment.  And the answer is found in one passage of scripture:

John 10 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

As many of you are familiar, this is Jesus speaking and he explaining the difference between what is offered or presented as opposed to himself. Both of these have two versions…and that’s how I believe we miss it.

The version is most mistaken is the long-term or as I like to call it “I’m working on something”. It is often overlooked because people are into instant gratification these days. This starts with the attitude of “me, me, me”…and it often steals, kills, and destroys future prospects.  It wasn’t until now, after seven almost eight years of exploring a business venture, that I found myself most satisfied because it is my calling. That took me some time by trying different things and it all pointed to one main thing.  Had I through in the towel, I would never know my true calling. Now my life and goals make sense.

The version that most gets us into trouble right away is the short-term or as I have renamed it “right now”. If there were ever statistics posted for this one, it would closely match posts made on social media analytical data. Have you noticed how emotional people operate on Facebook? People have always been emotional. Facebook just provides the platform. So back to subject at hand, we have a vast society that subscribe to a mentality of “how I feel and how I think must be shared at all times”.  And that’s how you get in trouble because your feelings and thoughts are just that – yours. And while some of us post our opinions to attacks anyone who doesn’t agree, we close the door on new opportunities.

Then there is third aspect that none of these vague explanations address. Every decision made affects someone else.  This is true even when people believe they are alone. God has called us to some things and some folk to connect and for change. If Apostle Paul, who being single, ignored that experience with Jesus on the road to Damascus, where would the Grace-Christian-Believer-Movement be? I can’t think about it.

Understanding Judas

On this Good Friday, as we approach Resurrection Day, I can’t help to think about Judas. How he allowed himself to be used by Satan. Just think if he had not entertained those voices, Jesus would have tarried on this earth and been crucified later. How much later, who knows. Make no mistake He would still endure crucifixion. It was to our benefit that it happened sooner and not later. Praise God!

How many of us have been in close proximity with our Judas and we found our ways around the actual fall. Get this, because of His mercy, we were spared many calamities known and unknown. While at the same time, it will be by His grace that we are able to rise to an occasion to meet or match adverse circumstance(s).

We WILL go through some things. We WILL repeat the things we avoid or are void of understanding.

So it safe to say, we should welcome our Judas….ensuring our resurrection with the right perspective of course. Jesus understood Judas’ purpose because He understood His own purpose. Great news for those who know that they know their cause…so Judas had to be close by.

Judas is no more than a catapult into the next level or the next stage of life. Although, Judas’ intent was evil but we know the scripture….what was meant for evil, God meant it for good (Genesis 50:20).

Happy Good Friday…this is the day the Lord has made…the day Jesus was placed in a tomb…countdown to resurrection in 3-2-1…

Fast Returns

As we work through in-between-moments (which are many), there are plenty of opportunities to give in or give up before the expected end. Personally, unless it came quick, I threw in the towel. With a set time frame subconsciously, without manifestation at hand immediately, I quit. I would move on to self effort and self perseverance.

I believe that there are two outcomes related:

  • incompleteness
  • own strength

Insufficiency wrapped around great ideas never known…and it is time to see things to the end. Along with our own strength causes rapid weariness, even with things loved or cherished, are recipes for sub par results.

It is ridiculous to believe that you have no process within the in-between-moments. Speaking for myself, I need those times to mature. It is at those time we should exercise our faith…display His patience by consistently being the same. It is in those moments where we grow up and trust in the Lord. The Lord so desperately wants us to believe Him and take Him at His word…biblical or ramah or otherwise.

Not to be preachy, while at the same time our vitality lies in Him and His purpose for our lives. We need Jesus. There is this longing for our vulnerability from Him. He created us for His pleasure.

Revelation 4:11 (KJV)
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

So be ye transformed by the renewing of your minds then.

It is by His grace and our proper response we can stand much longer…it is not in our strength but by His might and power that we’ll wait for a slower reality. While at the same time, His returns are now and fast. Make no mistake, we walk by faith and not by sight!

Prosperity Confession

Lord, thank you for Your thoughts toward me that are of peace and not of evil giving me an expected end. You go before me and prosper my way. Even when I find myself in low places, you prosper me. Because You love me, no weapon formed against me will ever prosper.

Thank you, Lord for You enlarge my territory, you have increased my borders. You have blessed me indeed. I am like a tree planted by the rivers of water, I bring forth Your fruit in and out of season. My leaf does not wither and whatsoever I do, it prospers.

You have spoken a word into my life and it will not return to You void, that word you spoke will accomplish what pleases You and it shall prosper in me.

I know that You wish above all else that I may prosper and be in health, even as my soul prospers.

When I call You, Lord…you are here and You answer…so send now prosperity, In the Name of Jesus

Lean Into Him?

Just to think He bore everything we go through from our emotional to physical turmoils…He is just amazing!

Using this term: “lean into Him” and we’ll have His peace. But one might ask after they say “I’m still bothered by my troubles, how do I lean into Him?

  1. Read scripture related or relatable to your particular situation.
  2. Meditate on that Word
  3. Pray according to that Word
  4. *Pray in tongues – it is every believer
Back to…He experienced our experience

As a baby, He learned to walk & talk. He was potty trained.
As a child, He wanted treats and not full healthy meals.
As an adolescent, He had acne. He went threw puberty. He probably had a crush on the girl next door.
As a young adult, He worked hard. Heck, He was a carpenter so, He coined the statement “blood, sweat, and tears”
And finally as a man, He experienced things like discrimination, isolation and heart breaks.

Just knowing He’s God’s child added pressure we will never comprehend. He made hard decisions all of the time and still is…since intercedes on our behalf.
Compared to Jesus we have it easy…so stop grumbling & complaining. LOL…let’s just lean into Him.

Seeing Is Believing?

Do you remember the story about doubting Thomas from the Word? He says to some other disciple, I won’t believe that Jesus has risen until I see Him…and just as he was speaking, The Lord appeared showing him his scars.

The chosen title should never be applied to a believer’s life. It’s true. We are supposed to walk by faith and not by sight.

This doesn’t mean we walk around bumping into things with our eyes literally closed. It means we become as children and see God’s best…even before it shows up. So dream with your eyes wide open.

As starry eyed-children our dreams were big, we reminded our parents, guardians, and peers of their promises daily. And guess what…most of them were fulfilled. And even when they were not, we moved on to the next thing. Most of us didn’t harbor mistrust and resentment for everything we didn’t receive. We still loved our parents…we still respected our guardians…we still trusted our peers. And that’s what we’re talking about – TRUST.

Notable definitions for Trust: 1.) reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc. of a person or thing; confidence. 2.) confident expectation of something; hope.

Getting trust now…although we knew its importance…it some areas, it wasn’t weighed properly.

If I were to say to a good friend, “I am relying on your integrity to get the job done because I trust you.”…unless they were not my friend, my trust in them would be important enough to invoke action.

So long story short, God is action when we trust…some things are a process and some things are overnight…we keep trusting. Just as a child’s tantrum, should never move a parent into quick pacifier decision making. God will never be moved by ours. He’s working on our behalf. He changes not. So it is more than safe to remark, in some areas His requirement for development is NOW.

Did You Know?

Most of us can’t imagine the depth and the length of God’s love toward and for us. Because of our behavior, we conceptualize His love is like that of man’s love…wavering and conditional. That is not true. God has such unconditional, unfailing love for us.

Just think about, why would he send Jesus to rescue us from our own sorrows, sicknesses, and out-of-place ways…if He were not in Love with us…God is Love and it is time that we recognize it…so that we can receive His peace, joy and benefits. He loves us.  And I know it because I have seen His love for me…I have settled within myself that there is NO mistake too big (not one) that will wipe His love away…He loves me.

John 3:16 (MSG)

16-18 “This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.

Building from the Middle

It doesn’t matter whether you are building a house, business, relationship, or skill…focus on building and you’ll have tangible success. Do this while seeing with your spiritual eyes the finished product. (Ephesians 1:17-18 GW 17 I pray that the glorious Father, the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, would give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know Christ better. 18 Then you will have deeper insight. You will know the confidence that he calls you to have and the glorious wealth that God’s people will inherit.)

Proverbs 24 GW

3 With wisdom a house is built.
With understanding it is established.
With knowledge its rooms are filled with every kind of riches, both precious and pleasant.

You’d be surprised at the number of people who are not building based on wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. These three key ingredients make up a solid foundation.

14 The knowledge of wisdom is like that for your soul.
If you find it, then there is a future, and your hope will never be cut off.

Wisdom and knowledge are obtained through received guidance and study. While however, understanding is achieved through dialogue – discussion. Check this out:

Or something else…

When you are not building, are you destroying? Active destruction looks like this:

  • Running over folk or using people for your gain
  • Made up excuses for self-preservation

We are all familiar with the first bullet point because most of us have been used or ran over by others. Some of us, if we’re honest, have done these deeds to others as well…heck we weren’t always saved. And even now, some of us saved folk have not left our fate in God’s hand either. Hopefully this checkpoint helps.

People who use approach situations with these thoughts in mind:

  1. Me, how can I gain from this RIGHT NOW!
  2. Others, what is the best plot to defaming and annihilating these other folk
  3. Deception, what lie can I tell to get what I want.

Some of y’all like, really? Huh, she took that too far. Contrary to your thoughts, think about it. When you were used, you analyzed how and why. How starts off simple – how could I be so stupid? Which usually leads to self discovery. Why always causes you delve into the user’s personality. Then you are able to see the user as 3-1-2 (see above). Users leave the situation destroying a small part of the person targeted.

15 You wicked one, do not lie in ambush at the home of a righteous person.
    Do not rob his house.
16 A righteous person may fall seven times, but he gets up again.
   However, in a disaster wicked people fall.

Sidebar: this is one reason we need Jesus! For the one who was used, healing is available…and for the one who uses, deliverance is available.

And self-preservation based in excuses leaves no room for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. This is called stubbornness.

Matters of wisdom are beyond the grasp of a stubborn fool.
    At the city gate he does not open his mouth.
Whoever plans to do evil will be known as a schemer.
Foolish scheming is sinful, and a mocker is disgusting to everyone.

Back to Building

Your long-term objective should have within it short-term goals. A short-term aim should be connected to something long-term. The long-term should be based on God’s plan for your life.

What’s His Plan for ME?

Start where you are frustrated…do you have a pet peeve about something? Usually you have the answer or a solution to that particular thing. That solution will make it better everyone else. Start there – creating solutions to problems no one else has solved.

Renew: Part 2 – Traditional Experience

Now that we understand that fear can be what seems like a logical response to adverse or challenging situations. Keeping in mind, challenging doesn’t always mean, “trouble”, it is merely an objection to the validity of matter. i.e. You say that you are prosperous and healed while in the presence of poverty and sickness.

Most fear based “logical” responses are traditionally rooted. Traditional information is held sacred. It’s viewed this way because it has been transmitted from generation to generation (or from one experience to many more experiences).

Unfortunately for all of us, we up grew up taking in information about many subjects by way of experience and mentorship. We subtly agreed with that information. And unless that information is/was based on God’s grace message revealed on a deeper level by the Holy Spirit…that information may be false. Yes, any and all information is false without His grace message backing it up. So this is obviously a message for born-again CHRISTians. Just to be clear, CHRISTians are people who believe that Jesus died, rose and was resurrection so that they could live life with more abundance. They also emphatically believe that Jesus loves them despite their sins making them the righteousness of His glory…Hallelujah! If you are a NOT a believer of these things, keep reading until the end.

It is our tradition or experience that shape our decision-making – without Christ. Even with Christ, due to residue left from our past lives pre-Christ, we have to seek the Lord’s word and let His Spirit search our intent. With that being said, it is our traditional views that provoke fear based logical responses in most cases. But let’s go a little higher with this. You have an idea that is so huge…sometimes you wonder how am I going to do this? Then another voice arises saying things like: you are crazy, you can’t do this, no one in your family or with your background has done this, etc., etc., etc. That big idea is Holy Ghost breathed into you and He’ll provide while everything in your experience purse will fight that vision.

We can use experience and tradition interchangeably because some of us have had these experiences that warrant valid points. If you’ve tried to do something for a long time and it wasn’t working, the average person gives up. That experience gives the impression ‘that’ll never work’…Go to God, seek Him and find out how to go about a thing. It may just need some tweaking. You have one up on some because there are many who never get started.

Don’t allow your traditions or experiences to limit what God has already provided through Jesus. These traditions and/or experiences can subconsciously plague your life’s decisions. Big, small, and everything in between, ask God for help. You will be surprised by His response. Sometimes, He’ll have you out there, outside of your comfort zone. It will not be boring…

Simple prayer of salvation:

I repent of not believing in You, Jesus. I believe you died, rose and was resurrection so that I can have life and have it more abundantly, I believe that You love me and have provided me, I believe in Your finished works, I welcome you in my heart, I welcome the Holy Spirit for guidance, Thank you for shedding your blood, I pray in Your name, Jesus…Amen!

Renew: Part 1 – Understanding Fear

For some, fear has become their primary response to any adversity or any new ideas.  So often times, it is misunderstood. For those who operate in fear fluently, it appears as ‘logical and safe decision-making‘. Another thought process to fear based behavior is protection. Simply this, people attempt to protect their ideologies: their way of being and doing.

Which brings up this point, all fear is prideful.  The most common outwardly manifestation of fear is anger.  There are many verses that warn against the dangers of full-blown anger: Anger Bible Verses.

By now, some are thinking anger is natural. And it is. While at the same time, it stems from a place of pride which is ultimately from a place of fear.  How is that so?  Once we are solid in thought and deed on a matter, we naturally oppose anything that challenges our thoughts and deeds. Due to tradition and discovery, we have made our thoughts and deeds our truth. Notice, its our truth and not the truth.

a scenario we all can identify with

you are driving along when someone in another vehicle cuts in front of you, without signal or warning…what happens next

  • first, it startles you
  • then, you are angry

And this should startle you and anger you some…why does it? You are startled because you have no time to protect yourself and most importantly….you think you would never do that – cut someone off! And it is that very last thought that leads to anger. We tend to think we are oblivious to making the same mistakes others make and that’s prideful. Pride makes you protect your way of being and doing which causes you react in anger based on fear of being wrong or losing out, etc.

What should have happened, then? After you were cut off, you’re obviously shaken but you are alive…so thank GOD…and that dispels the anger (I mean fear). And mean really thank God, thank Him for everything you can think of in that moment. You’ll find that everything else washes away.

True worship of the Almighty has its way of cleansing adverse or misunderstand situations.  These are tried and true. Just worship Him and just thank Him, His peace will surpass all of your understanding in those moments.  Submit to Him and the devil will flee.

The psalmist David was convinced of God’s love. At no point was he confused in Psalm 8. David was a pretty open guy regarding his feelings and beliefs. History dictates he wrote this before he officially became the king. This passage gives insight into the relationship David had with God. A relationship bred out of the time they spent together. Although David wrote this about The Lord, he recognized how God had favored us – his creation.  He believes in Us. Here’s some more Word on it:

Jeremiah 29 GWT 11 I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. They are plans for peace and not disaster, plans to give you a future filled with hope.

Psalm 139 KJV 14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Proverbs 18 KJV 16 A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.

Hold on…wait…did the Word just say, that my gift (talent) will make room for me? And bring me before kings (in today’s world this means: VIPs, AVPs, Presidents, Owner’s, etc…and also real Kings)? But what if I don’t know what my gifts or talents are? Gifts or talents are not purchased by you. These things just natural without formal training. Nothing is too small for this category.

In Genesis, Joseph had dreams and he understood them. Out of his excitement and understanding, he shared them with his family. Out of their jealously, they through him into a pit and sold him into slavery.

CHRISTians, thank God for the Holy Spirit..right now…because we can discern who’s around us and what they are capable of…even when they attempt in hiding their identity and intent.

But how many of you know when God has declared a thing a thing…it is so. Those dreams manifested for Joseph to help the very fools who were against him. He believed in Joseph and guess what, He also believed in Joseph’s family. Now that’s love.

Just reading about Joseph you’ll notice some very unusual stuff:

  • Though he was slave, he didn’t carry himself as a slave.  Potiphar made him ruler over his house due to the obvious God wisdom on Joseph’s life.
  • Though tempted with betraying Potiphar, he did not. The next dude would have got with ‘ole girl’ and kept it breezy until he was caught.
  • Though he was in prison, again, he didn’t carry himself as a prisoner. And again, was entrusted to lead while in prison.
  • His gift had advanced, before he dreamed and interpreted his own dreams and now he interpreted the dreams of others…ultimately led him to physical freedom.

His gift made room for him and brought him before a great man. Now, I imagine that Joseph was tired of enduring due to wicked people. I am sure it was times where he wanted to just die and get it over with. Based on his beginning, it is safe to say that he would have been the one to invent suicide.

Joseph kept encouraging himself and he was convinced of God’s love. All he had were those dreams, they kept him from throwing in the towel many days. Those dreams sustained his life. How many of us have dreams that are lifelines we so desperately need…no need to raise your hands at once…

Have you wondered, Lord, who am I that you would love me? After reading Psalm 8, there is no doubt that David understood His majesty. David was astounded by God’s appointment to man. We are made a little lower than God…although many translations say angels or heavenly beings…it is so amazing. Just focusing on that line alone by meditation brings forth His strength, dispels doubt as the mind is renewed and action directed at His calling follows.

Well shouldn’t it? Now direct your attention to His calling. We are all called to do something specific. Spending time with Him will uncover His plan for you. As children, God gives glimpses of what we’re equipped to do. Sometimes as we get older we put down activities we love because we misunderstand. There is a connection between how we spend our time and our well-being and prosperity as adults.

Getting with God, it will keep you fulfilled. He believes in us. We have to believe what He believes about us.

When We Get Up Off of the Floor

And the power of God fell…and there was this great transformation.

Many years ago, I had experiences with God that could not compare to any earthly thing. He would take me on these journeys with my eyes wide open. And although I could not comprehend what it all meant then…I was never the same. I knew without doubt there is a God and there is a Jesus.

You would think moments like that would kick a person into gear! Honey, with no understanding, there is no change. See, I didn’t even know enough to ask Him why or how back then. I just went with it believing it would be immediate.

God had promised me some things

So in my finite wisdom I tried to push those promises along. Not to go into long detailed, I am just learning now what it means to wait on Him. I don’t believe we would wait long if we stayed out of His way and only followed His instructions. I can’t help wondering about delays that I’ve placed on this road to restoration and deliverance…still I digress.

After we have been slain in the Spirit, captured by His presence, and captivated by His love in those moments…we are supposed to get up with questions. There is a surety of this statement that I can only sum up with our personal relationships with Him. He loves dialogue. God loves to give us grand ideas out of nowhere it would seem. He’ll give us an unction that seems impossible to complete. Because of the impracticalities, most of us are guilty of ignoring or dismissing what we discern because it is NOT man-made. It is not until sometime later we get that it was God and some of us still don’t ask questions. Some of us jump right into fear.

Sidebar: I believe fear easily comes along when we’re not communing with Him consistently. Communing is a two-way streak. That’s how we know His voice and we are not confused.

No Questions?

Well I have some, are you off the floor? Are you processing what He said and did? Did you ask Him what it means? Did you ask how it would manifest? The WHY is always because: He can, He will and He loves you.

It’s Doesn’t Matter

Religious folk tend to qualify their salvation status by the big ten sins that they claim they’re not committing…and it doesn’t even matter. Jesus died and rose for all of our sins while fulfilling the law once and that’s it. He is not going to keep dying and rising to appease our self-righteous practices. Sin is sin to God. He does not categorize it or level them off like man does. He loves us too much. That is why my Word says His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. If they were, we’d be in serious trouble.

So let’s talk about the sin we all commit constantly without blinking an eye:
James 4:17 Whoever knows what is right but doesn’t do it is sinning.

It is not just unbelievers who do this and you guys know it. Point many of us resorted back to some former ways in handling a situation…knowing it wasn’t the right way of doing things. The Holy Spirit was knocking and trying to guide us onto His way while we ignored the promptings. We were intent on doing things our way….


Question: did He strike you down with a lightening bolt?

I bet He comforted you in your bad decision. If you listened, He probably gave you another solution to aid in the situation.  A lot of times, I found that I’ve had to start over with Him to get a desired result. Bottom line, you cannot sin away your salvation. Therefore, you shouldn’t judge other baby CHRISTians as if they can too.  It doesn’t matter….let’s bare one another up in love…His love.

Disclaimer: This is the story of every human. Therefore you can substitute he or she if need be. At some point before now, this man did receive Jesus. While at the same time, he has lost his way. Follow him on his journey back to life.


At first, he thought he had it under control. As time went on, he suspected his authority was limited. Just this information caused an identity crisis. He related to his success and failure. This mind-frame kept up a subtle roller coaster ride. Due to long periods of mundane activity, the bumps in the road appeared few & far in between. But then a height would be reached or a new low would be dug…and those were confused times. Moments where his name was winner or loser. When he portrayed winner, he was invincible and confident. As loser, he’d present a false humility and remained depressed until he deemed necessary to climb the mountain back to winner.

But God…spoke to him on day asking ‘what are you doing?’.

To have God ask you a question is not so He gets an answer…it is so you get answers!

He went through all the clinical responses:

  • I don’t understand why this is happening to me (begging for sympathy)
  • I’ve tried this and I’ve tried that and nothing is working (self effort working)
  • I’m this type of person (privileged and superior)…this shouldn’t happen to me

God allowed the tantrum. And he when he was quiet, God spoke again….and this time he knew he needed God’s help.

…My burden is light, my yoke is easy…Just trust me with all of it and leave it with me…I want to take care of you…I have already provided everything you need…I will fulfill the desires of your heart according to My will…I love you, my son, God said.

This statement brought so much peace…now how would he leave his troubles with The Lord?

  1. Meditate on Proverbs 3 focusing on verses 3 thru 6.
  2. Confess daily: Jesus loves, God loves me, and the Holy Spirit is with me to be my guide.
  3. Pray in the Spirit (maybe some do and some don’t – so ask him now)
    1. “Heavenly Father, I am a believer. I am Your child and You are my Father. Jesus is my Lord. I believe with all my heart that Your Word is true.“Your Word says if I will ask, I will receive the Holy Spirit. So in the Name of Jesus Christ, my Lord, I am asking You to fill me to overflowing with Your precious Holy Spirit. Jesus, baptize me in the Holy Spirit.“Because of Your Word, I believe that I now receive and I thank You for it. I believe the Holy Spirit is within me and, by faith, I accept it.“Now, Holy Spirit, rise up within me as I praise God. I fully expect to speak with other tongues, as You give me the utterance.”Now begin giving sound to the expressions in your heart. Speak and hear the Holy Spirit speaking through you.Rejoice! You’ve just been baptized in the Holy Spirit! You’ve been endued with power—hallelujah!

CHRIST-ian what does it mean?

When I Say, “I am a Christian” was originally written by Carol Wimmer in 1988 but somehow attributed to Maya Angelou who had enough integrity to deny writing this poem.

“I found that I knew not only that there was God but that I was a child of God, when I understood that, when I comprehended that, more than that, when I internalized that, ingested that, I became courageous,” Maya Angelou 2013

According II Corinthians 5:17-21, we have been made new, reconciled back to God, and now we are ambassadors of Christ. And we further understand from Romans 5:18-21, we were made sinners because Adam disobeyed and we are made righteous through Jesus’ obedience. Thus, making the gospel a grace message, we can’t do anything to deserve our righteous. Therefore, we cannot sin away our salvation.  Self effort should be thrown out with the garbage on Wednesdays. As CHRISTians, we must understand legalistic tactics that attempt daily to hold us in condemnation and bondage distracting us from our identities in Christ.  And finally in I Corinthians 1:26-31, we should understand His love for us. It’s deeper than any ocean floor, wider than the sky’s length, its incomprehensible. He has made us wise according to this course of scripture. Get this, it’s done just because He wanted to. So none of us can boast of our own merit.  That’s what it means to be a CHRISTian. Carol Wimmer confessed that she needed His help when she wrote that poem. Maya decided she’d accept what Jesus made her to be and use His courage over the tumultuous years of her life until victory manifested.

Be encouraged today that it is not all on you…I say emphatically “I accept what Jesus made me to be!”

So What You Understand!

Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean to thine own understanding.

As individuals our understanding differ. As it is defined:
1. mental process of a person who comprehends; comprehension; personal interpretation.
2. intellectual faculties; intelligence; mind: a quick understanding.
3. superior power of discernment; enlightened intelligence.
4. knowledge of or familiarity with a particular thing; skill in dealing with or handling something.
5. a state of cooperative or mutually tolerant relations between people.

People rarely lead with the third option while obtaining information. Going for the personal interpretation of known familiar information, tends to formulate how and what we comprehend. This causes miscommunication on so many levels because again our perception differs based on experience…just more details. We can miss what God is bringing to the forefront.

God can help

God can help

If you can help it, the next time your faced with anything familiar, say to yourself: “So What I understand.”. “I am leaning on me just too much.” “God I need your grace and mercy in this situation (big or small).” “God, please help me solve this (or give me another idea about this).”
So then we trust Him and wait. Let’s work smarter not harder, ladies and gentlemen.

With certain levels or new areas of growth, you have to be real careful in few things:

  • remaining humble

  • remaining grateful

rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. (Colossians 2:7 NIV)

  • do not return to old unsuccessful ways

As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly. (Proverbs 26:11 NIV) Of them the proverbs are true: “A dog returns to its vomit,” and, “A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.” (2 Peter 2:22 NIV)

Now rest in all that He has done, is doing, and will do…it is all already done….just rest to receive it.wisdomhope.newlife



Being in poverty and having a poverty mindset are two completely different things. While ‘being in poverty’ can be obvious to our incomplete senses, people fail to realize anywhere there is a serious need, poverty is present. Further clarifying: lack of health is poverty; being addicted to a substance is poverty; unstable mental health is poverty; and finally the one we’re all familiar with…lack of finances is poverty. Now you may be able see why incomplete senses are mentioned…until you see LACK and BONDAGE as attributes of poverty we may think it’s okay to be associated with these in any area. It is that simple – the presence or appearance of lack is the presence of poverty.

Now however, the ‘poverty mindset’ is deeper and has a root. While ‘being in poverty’ can derive from misinformation about health, finances and freedom, the mind that set on poverty can not see a bright future.


Bright Future

Although, you may not know what’s beyond what is seen…you still want to go…it is absolutely gorgeous…

Over time as human beings, we a grow figuratively (in presentation through maturity), spiritually (hopefully receiving Christ and His Word), and literally (from childhood to adulthood). So when you combine figuratively and spiritually, there should be some simultaneous action here constantly. The spirit will feed the figure. Although environmental demographics many add to one’s mindset, after Christ, these things shouldn’t matter…after all He has written His law on your heart. This will produce a very bright future. People who came to Christ, came to an end of themselves.

{If we could only leave that dead man in the sea, life would be easier.} During the journey, we pick up a few things along with our old selves. This is a delay to our arrival.

While dealing with circumstances as we had done pre-salvation may seem harmless, it is definite evidence of poverty thoughts. Are you serious? Let’s reiterate that it’s not that deep (sarcasm). Oh yes it is, honey! This is a dangerous place to formulate ideas. In this space, you may just let this mindset carry you over to being in poverty…and all of this due to wrong thinking. It starts with thoughts, ladies and gentlemen.  Think about what you are thinking about.

I Couldn’t Imagine



Something occurred to me recently, God really, really loves beyond our scope of understanding. The best way to explain it is through parenthood.  For those of us who are parents, we have one purpose for our children. It splits into doing good by our children and protecting them. Protecting our children is greatly nestled inside of “doing good”.

But when this role is tainted, we see this lack of protection first. Often, it is confused for compromise. Parents who allow their children to make hard decisions at very early ages fail to protect which does no good by their children. For example, a three-year old shouldn’t be asked if they want candy or vegetables in a grocery store. Continuing with the examples, a five year should not be allowed to walk into traffic without supervision (you should hold his/her hand); an eleven year girl should not be allowed to wear makeup; a child should not be rewarded with gifts when they are not performing well in school or at home…this soapbox could crush at any moment if I don’t get off of it…I digress.

So in observing society, have you noticed how some children and once children have turned against authority figures? Theory behind this lies within the paragraph before this one…when you decide to raise a child, any child without teaching them healthy, wise moralist views they tend to lean toward rebellious behavior during adolescence and adulthood. So now this parent is feeling like a failure…sidebar: I believe you fail at anything else while at the same time, YOU CANNOT FAIL AS A PARENT. I am just saying, at the end of the day, your biggest accomplishment should be your children.  That doesn’t mean, you everything 100% right. It means that you are honest enough to right your wrongs and clean up messes you have made IN FRONT OF YOUR CHILDREN.

When a parent feels betrayed by their offspring, I could imagine it is awful to say the least. Having 3 children of my own, there are times where they are ungrateful because the spirit of entitlement rises upon them. Are you familiar with this? Let me help you. It is when you went to grocery store and spend $200 and one or more of the following happens:

  • they complain because you didn’t purchase their favorite cereal
  • your oldest eats fast food all week
  • you cook dinner and comments fly around the room ‘we’re having that?’
  • their greedy selves eat all of the snacks in 2 days

Oh now you recognize it. And that is small. So the matter at hand, is when ones child walks away from the relationship after a parent’s sacrificing love and devotion. Within my time here on this earth, I have only witnessed this a few times. Thank God, I don’t know about you, I wouldn’t want to see this often.

But what I have seen is all of us (not just people outside of the church) turning away from God, our loving Father.



Which brings me to why I couldn’t imagine how He feels or thinks about our rebellion.  And instead of condemning us (like some of were taught), He still runs us down with His loving kindness.

For of those of you made this far, know that I am saved by GRACE through faith. Grace is so much more powerful than I can articulate.  He keeps blessing me even when I know I don’t deserve it. He has provided protection, provision and providence. While I am not always on board with His decisions for my life, I have learned not to run away from Him. I run to Him daily even if it is just to get a crumb of what He is giving. He is always giving me something. He has blessed my mistakes so many times…

So I urge you today, don’t run from Him because of your fears and wrong doing…RUN TO HIM and he’ll give you strength to get out and get something (Outkast moment).

Sin the Parasite



Sin is an offense against divine law at its core. It is committed willfully and deliberate. People who have made Jesus their savior and lord sin willfully from the leftover residue before being born again. Some gradually change due to the renewing their minds according Romans 12:1 – 2. Of course, worldly (unsaved) people just sin because they cannot help it.  And Jesus loves us all the same.


On all levels, we should be renewing our minds. We should be finding out what the bible says about a subject before making decisions. We should be examining our lives.


God loves you therefore we love you, too. We could not love you properly (with no strings attached) on our own. My apologies in advance for the religious imposters who presented a ‘church folk’ image, they have forgotten a few things about Jesus and His ministry. Jesus loves people as they are but so much more does He love us not to leave us the same.

CHRISTian, you were called out of darkness understanding Jesus died for our sins. Jesus covered us in His blood so our sins would be obsolete and would not stop us from spending eternity with Him. He came to give us life and more abundantly.  In simple terms, He came to give us good health, prosperity, peace, joy, and deliverance. The constant action of sin destroys in that order. So acting on leftover residue, has it consequences no matter what.  You are heaven bound early. Hey World, the consequences are more detrimental for you. With your health (and everything else following) gone, death is the beginning of an eternity in a very unpleasant place. At least for us Christians, we can go to heaven or get healed and go to heaven later. There is so much evidence of a Higher Power. Question to World: what is holding these planets, sun, moon in the universe? Question to World: if when you tilt your glass, liquid spills out. How come the ocean doesn’t spill as this earth spins? One last question to the World: If monkeys evolved somehow, how come they aren’t still evolving into people? I know there are many pathways to enlightenment presented in today’s world. It is all to draw confusion and to lure you away from Jesus. I realize that the church and its members may not have been the best representation over the years of His love and His faith in your success. But I am here to tell you, He is real, His love is real. I have seen it when I didn’t think I deserved it…now I understand His grace. I don’t have to be perfect to receive anything from Him, I don’t have to work for it. He gave and that’s it. Now I receive it…and I want you to receive it as well.

Social Media 101

social-media-seo-logosIf you are following this blog, you know this is my Jesus blog. As I discover His love for me, He imparts wisdom. So as a believer, what I display in life and in social media is very important. Although, my life isn’t perfect. He and I are working on that…but not how you think. There is no legalistic points that I try hard following only to fail over and over because I am checking a list that doesn’t involve getting Him involved.

This brings me to this point, I noticed that the open display of craziness has gone viral in all sectors of society. My spidey senses tingle every time I see someone regurgitating an emotional meltdown on Facebook due to their gamut of issues.  People are celebrating a false independence…and if these people were outside of Christianity, I would not pay attention. Sinners sin and that shouldn’t surprise anyone. That is the root of their existence. So you don’t have judge that because it is what it is. The situation has already been judged. We have all been there.

So why are some Christians, making an open display of mess as well? I believe the answer is in the first paragraph. THEY ARE TRYING TO GET IT RIGHT WITHOUT INVOLVING THE ONE WHO IS RIGHT. It would seem that some Christians forgot, we are saved by grace through faith. That statement found in Ephesians explains to us that we had nothing to do with it (we did nothing of our own merit). He pursued us until we surrendered. We need to stay surrendered. We’ll live better.

In the garden of Eden, we were cursed with hard work (or work by our own merit) when the Lord pronounced “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground,..”.  But when Jesus came and died, we were delivered from that if ONLY we believe in Him.

So when I see all these Christians confused, upset, with no direction, I can conclude they don’t involve Jesus in there everyday. They are too busy trying to do everything themselves…and we’re not designed to be sustained that way. Look at the world. If you find yourself, mimicking a hell-bound worldly person, pray. Have a conversation with the Lord for real and ask for help. You are the only Jesus some people have to go by. Stop letting people go to hell on your watch…show the love of God during good and especially bad times in YOUR life…not theirs…they are watching to see how you handle everyday hiccups. If you are posting your emotionalism, how is that helping?

He Stops Often

Real quick, to all my bible scholars, did you realize how much Jesus stopped in the Word? He would be on His way somewhere and someone would call out to Him or touch Him or just plain ole cry out…

…and not once did the writer record Jesus telling someone he was too busy or ignoring valid needs. We learn several things from this:

  • He is and never will be too busy for us! We should never ever assume our problem is too small or too big for Him who gave His life for us. He wants to be involved. He wants to help!
  • After He finished with the seemly distraction, He continued His journey and reached His destination. Some of us stop for a distraction and get stuck….some never complete the journey or task.
  • He was the same from the journey to the distraction back to the journey. Some of us are too emotional or as my friend may use right now, touchy-feely on some negative stuff…what is that all about? Lighten up and practice being consistently the same at all times.
  • Jesus addressed all real issues! Are the ‘distractions allowed’ valid enough for your attention? Some of us stop for every little thing and then wonder why they haven’t accomplished anything. Jesus had no time for crowd followers and pharisees.

Running For Ryan

There are so many words that come to mind about my October 27th, Sunday morning. The one word that rings louder than any other is faithful. That is the one word that accurately describes the Holland family.

Lamentations 3:22-24 (NIV) 22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”

Today, my son Isaiah and I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Jackie Holland (see photo above). Recently, Isaiah joined the joined the Junior Beta Club with his school Haynes Bridge Middle School. The Junior Beta is dedicated to making sure our kids understand the importance of ‘giving back’ via volunteering their time. All of this is and was Isaiah’s idea.

We met Jackie because Ryan (see photo above), her son, went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2011 due to colon cancer. He was only 25 years old. As she told me just a few words, her heart was seen and we shed tears together. These were tears of sorrow and joy.

Sorrow…because so many men are trying to bypass pains and struggles in silence.  In Ryan’s case, he endured pain for a while before he actually sought a physician. As you would guess, Jackie was instrumental in urging Ryan with questions and concern until he took some action.

Joy…because here we stood in his honor knowing that God placed this very clear vision on Jackie’s heart. We stood in the parking lot of AMC Theatres  in Alpharetta, GA….gearing up for the 1st annual 5K Run for Ryan. Though it was cold and very early…it was great turnout…complete with volunteers (this is where Isaiah came in), participants for the events, and a DJ.

Most importantly, Ryan believed in Jesus. I believed Ryan looked from heaven and smiled…his last days on this earth, Ryan remained faithful to his belief in Jesus…I can’t say that enough.

Also…I thank God that Jackie didn’t just ball up into a shell becoming increasingly selfish…and she could have and everyone would understand…while at the same time, she got right on getting this organization up and running with God’s help…from the look of today…God has brought the people to aid in carrying out His mission through Jackie. The Ryan Lee Holland Cancer Foundation, Inc was founded in May 2011 just two months after Ryan’s passing. Amazing!

This organizations mission is simple: “Financially assist cancer patients in active treatment with medical expenses, doctor’s visit copays, prescription copays, travel and parking expenses at hospitals for treatment.”

It is my sincere hopes, you will volunteer or give to this organization. They have put on events in the Georgia and I have learned Michigan my home state. For your donating convenience:

Think High, Really Thinking Low!

Romans 12:3

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. KJV
For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him. AMP

…sometimes when we read the King James Version, we miss the true meaning of things because of the English language is primitive and limited in most of its meaning and with that being said…that is why i included the AMP version.

not to think of himself more highly – is a statement of selfish thinking…such as the me, me syndrome, or the better known as the why me thoughts, or I don’t deserve this…either way the thoughts are when one person can only think about themselves when adversity arrives…when one thinks selfishly it hard for God to something (the right thing(s)) to them anyway….they are too clogged up or stopped up with selfish thinking.  ‘thinking highly’ doesn’t always necessarily mean you think you are ‘better than’….it just means that you focus on yourself too much and think that God is so focused on the bad about you that you can’t get anything from Him unless you do everything right.

but to think soberly – is statement God is trying to get us think constantly….he has made us some promises that He wants us to focus on more than anything else…we need to convince ourselves with these promises until they come to pass…then move on to the next promises…NEXT!
and finally…
God has dealt to each one a measure of faith – each saved person has been dealt the same amount of faith. it doesn’t decrease at all. when we don’t think soberly or we think more highly than we ought to then we build up unbelief and disbelief in Him and His promises.

How About That Word, Huh?

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12 KJV)

In order to trust and believe that scripture, you’ll have understand the word ‘application’.  Although there are five definitions, you will find all are relevant in creating a foundation just to have faith in the Word of God.


  • a formal request to an authority for something.

Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. (Philippians 4:6 KJV)

  • the action of putting something into operation.

You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. (James 2:22 NIV)

  • the action of putting something on a surface.

You blind Pharisees! First clean the inside of the cups and dishes so that the outside may also be clean. (Matthew 23:26 GWT)

  • sustained effort; hard work.

But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.  (2 Timothy 4:5 NAS)

  •      Computing

a program or piece of software designed and written to fulfill a particular purpose of the user.

For the Scriptures say that God told Pharaoh, “I have appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you and to spread my fame throughout the earth.” (Romans 9:17 NLT)

There is a perfect scripture to coincide with the definitions associated with ‘application’. Each word highlighted is a synonym of ‘application’.  At first, the intention was to leave the 5th definition out until I read it and made the connection via the Holy Spirit…I charge you to meditate on that definition and that scripture…get that down in you…know God created you for a specific purpose…

Just know this also:

  1. As you are praying, making your requests known…you’ll have to believe that it is done for you.
  2. After praying and confessing, you’ll notice your faith building and your unbelief shrinking.
  3. What’s on the inside will start coming on the outside (namely through what you say and then via physical manifestations.)
  4. As you continue to speak and walk in faith, you may endure some hardship but don’t let in deter you.
  5. And finally, go forth to fulfill whatever God’s design for your life.

So go through the process with steady APPLICATION…

Comfort Zone

We have become too comfortable in our present lives without the power of God working. We have subscribed to the club of “be like them”. Why are we looking around for habits and acceptance?


This area of defeat is called a comfort zone. Defeat is actually where you will live because God has called us ALL to do something specific. So to go through life without the leadership of the Holy Spirit is crazy and frustrating. Some Believers forget that they have the person of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of them. They make every decision on their own…and later, they are complaining about that decision.

Decisions should be made with the assistance of the Holy Ghost…only the world should be perishing over decisions that they have made. The Righteous of God should not be in the same category as the world. After awhile, your decisions should reflect your growth in Him. You should be a peace even when it is a hard situation to deal with. You should be joyful even when you are falling down in the matter because you are learning from your mistakes. And finally, you should have this unshakeable knowing that Jesus loves you too much to let you fail.

In your comfort zone, you work hard to maintain until it is no comfortable. Also, depending on how you stay there, you’ll think that this is the way it is supposed to be. It’ll be hard for you to receive a message like this. Fear will tell you that Daria is crazy…that may work for her but I have to be full control of where I am going and what I am doing.

Let me tell you this: God is helping make decisions daily because I allows Him too. Sometimes, I find myself in control and frustrated and wonder how did I get here….then I stop and pray. I place myself back in His hands and I ask for guidance…I ask a lot questions actually.

So it is not easy especially when you are used to doing everything yourself….as I said before, that is crazy when He is you and you in Him. And now I work to remain in peace by keeping my mind stayed on Him because He is keeping me there in peace. So in essence I work smarter not harder.

believeTrust and believe are brothers. In fact, they are twins. They are Siamese twins. Trust was born first and believe quickly followed becoming joined at the hip. Believe didn’t fight the union because it understands that it can’t survive without trust. Trust has been present for every manifestation believe could muster up. Together they have seen miracles. Because they’ve stuck together, there were many battles won. Their adversaries never had a chance against them.

Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil. It shall be health to your nerves and sinews, and marrow and moistening to your bones. (Proverbs 3:5-8 AMP)

It is when we get away from this proverb that our wonder twins (trust & believe) cannot be activated. Things like ignorance, unbelief, and disbelief are triggered instead. When we’re led away with our own devices look out for pride rising up whispering (to replace the Holy Spirit). Of course, now you are confused…so please practice daily communication with the Spirit of God in order to decipher between the voices. Daily mediate on His promises. This is the beginning of trust with believe following. But don’t do it like its work. Don’t make it some kind of weird ritual. If its only for a few minutes in the beginning, sike yourself up for it. You’ll find love for it…and you’ll miss it if you forget to do it.

believeisn’t believing what we’re called to do? us who chose to follow Christ? to the few who have subscribed to Christ exclusively, you get this…

while at the same time, some of us can’t get it because we have been carried away with the way the world does things.  so most unbelief comes by ignorance…just plain ode not knowing.  this is mainly because you’ve heard through a vine (can’t even call it a grapevine, for it is NOT fruitful)  that it doesn’t take all that bible reading or you don’t understand the King James Version (by the way, that problem has been solved just read one of these: NLT, MSG or NIV and you’ll get it that’s what the Holy Spirit is for)…next, some of you are in total dis-belief…the only thing you mustered up to believe is Jesus saved you from your sins…so the whole health, deliverance, peace, and financial prosperity thing is a wash for you because of wrong teaching. you have decided not to read the bible for yourself (and sometimes find out you’re in a dead church)…so you go along with the okey-doke…how sad! and finally there are the you’s who base everything on what you see, hear, and experience….so you have preached the gospel of fear…in fact, you can’t understand as people step out on faith…you bash them and their endeavors behind their backs…

whether we are aware or not, we believe or exercise faith all the time…we generally place our faith in temporary things like: jobs, a doctor’s report, your emotions, etc.

if all Christians are to become Believers, we are going to have to transfer the necessary manifestations into this realm by which we work our faith by admitting the existence, the reality, the truth of all the good things placed in us by Christ. when we don’t throw away our confidence in Jesus, we will be compensated…and that’s believing!

What about Those 5 Senses

Just like anything, they were given to us as a gift. The Lord gave them so we would have a sensory connection to this manifested realm. In short, they keep us aware of our surroundings. It is my firm belief our senses should invoke enjoyment. They warn us from danger also.

These 5 Senses are gifts from The Lord to assist us daily,

Hear – processes sound projected by creation

Sight – processes an input and output of imagery of creation

Taste – processes flavor of a creation

Smell – processes aromas and odors of creation

Touch – enables relation with creation

Voice – enables speech

Did you catch that? Voice is the 6th addition. It is not one of the five senses. So why is it added? That will be addressed.

Of these five senses, how many of you know that we have them twice? If you understand that we are first spirit, then we possess a soul (feeler, thinker, chooser), and we live in a body…you understand that our spirit man had these gifts first.

It is important for believers to get that. Too many times, we only process from within our soul to fit this arena. Most common examples are hearing bad news and reacting outwardly without going ‘in’ for prayer.

The only ‘inward’ thing going on is between our two ears.

The Brain – It sends signals back and forth due to the experiences of the senses.

Our brains should be powered by the spirit. Most people allow their souls to generate their minds. This is how a Christian gets off track. While letting their souls manipulate the control panel, it is hard to relinquish command. Thus, they are not believers.

To connect it all…

Our voice was given so we would speak life. At times, when our sensory mechanism device is sounding off a danger alert. It is certainly time for the Word to come into play. In all honesty, there should be deposits flowing out of us after awhile. This transmits motions for the Holy Spirit to do His thing. Because He is amazing, He always knows how to calm us and bring peace into any situation. His peace brings healing, deliverance, prosperity…I think you get the point.

So what about five senses? Just know they are a gift and they were not meant to have any control. They were meant aide and assist with the everyday. Know that Jesus can circumvent any unfavorable sensory mechanism alert.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, (Ephesians 3:20 NIV)

As parents, there are some things you simply cannot assign to or pass on to your children due to their inexperience. The Lord does that with us as well. As our loving Father, He begins to prepare us for something greater. From time to time during this process, we fuss and wonder ‘why we don’t already have it?’ or ‘why aren’t we there yet?’.  Unknowingly, we are delaying the progression with our complaining or discontentment. Our flat out ungratefulness is derailing God’s will for our lives.

Have you ever seen a child so far gone with a tantrum, an attempt was made to give the child something desirable and it was rejected. The child’s vision was blurred with tears and so they constantly shouted NO. Well, some of us are throwing tantrums and the Lord is trying to give answers. Are you responding “No, that can’t be it”? The child’s tears are comparable to our pride and emotions.

Poor In Spirit

For a long time, I didn’t understand that like some of you…this should help: Lord may I decrease, so that you may increase…in Jesus name Amen! Decrease and Increase? Diminish one self and let the Lord be magnified. How do you do that? SET DOWN PRIDE! Pride is so subtle.  I know what would help: get in the Word for answers and actually ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in your decision making. The Holy Spirit is gentleman. He will try to get your attention at times but after being rejected with the “I will do this my way” mentality, He chilaxes (chill and relax). You will need to get him involved if you are a person used doing everything on your own.

You remain inexperienced if you are not willing to be poor in spirit (setting down pride; not leaning to your own emotions). You will not fulfill God’s best. You will be unhappy.

Believers are called and chosen to do certain, specific things. When we’re away of those things, we are as a mirror to the world. People can’t tell you know Jesus when you are not following Him!  Be willing to learn, be willing to go through, be will to be corrected, and be willing to be wrong!

Inexperience, in short, will get you no where. Really! If you are not experiencing God’s kingdom, what’s the point?

To Believe or Not to Believe, that is the question?

So this great idea shows up. It is so grandiose. Before you know it, thoughts overwhelm you. Fear arises…

Question: are you afraid?

Answer: just because fear presents itself, that doesn’t mean you are scared. You have a choice whether you become what comes your way.

So let’s just say you decided to go with fear. Once you do, the impressive aim is watered down with what “you”  can or cannot accomplish.

Because God gave His intention in the first place, deep down inside you believe. So what’s the problem? It is your soul (feeler, thinker, 5 senses). Our souls perceive the present conditions and circumstances. That is when the adversary send thoughts. Those thoughts exclaim ungodly outcome and are fear-based as they come.


We need to Talk Back or Minister to those Thoughts

We need to Talk Back or Minister to those Thoughts; TAME THOSE THOUGHTS!

Do not receive those thoughts. You say, “God is more than able to bring it pass. He supplies needs according to His riches in glory through Christ. He has healed us by His stripes. He takes pleasure in our prosperity.”


It’s done. Rejoice now because in speaking His word to those contrary thoughts you’re cured of the double minded battle. Passiveness during those moments your enemy attempts to rationalize your failure, will keep you double minded. So be consistent! Understand this, our spirit man believes the B-I-B-L-E. Our soul have to be trained to be lined up with the Word.


Don’t Waste Time

Time is of the essence…

So we’re all familiar with procrastination…but what is it about “wasting time” we can’t seem to grasp?. I don’t know…do you? Any who, not only will procrastination cause delay in what God called you to do, wasting time will also.


Just yesterday in my quiet time with the Holy Spirit, He eluded to my use of “free” time being wasteful. Although this revelation had been coming for some time, I rejected the notion. So much so I’ve complained about things I actually need to keep my sane.

For example, on Wednesdays I have a long busy day with work and other tasks. Naturally, I’ve complained to others on how I’m limited on that day…and all the while, I need these activities to burn stored energy so that I rest well. My Wednesdays are actually very productive and fulfilling…but we’ll get to that in a minute.
